Job Description

Ledgent Accounting & Finance is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Cash Application Specialist for a temporary assignment at our Hartford office. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and experience in cash applications within a service industry.

Position Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day accurate posting of cash receipts.

Location: Onsite in Hartford, CT

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify and record all forms of payment in the financial system
  • Process credit card transactions via Pay-Trace or designated vendor
  • Ensure accurate posting of ACH and wire payments
  • Contact attorneys and clients regarding overpayments and determine appropriate handling
  • Prepare documentation for client refunds in accordance with company policy
  • Manage excess balances to ensure timely refunds or application to future billing
  • Apply/unapply payments as requested by attorneys or billing department
  • Send W-9 forms and credit card payment links upon request
  • Complete vendor and ACH request forms; set up new client profiles for E-Payables
  • Generate life-to-date AR history reports for clients and attorneys
  • Communicate client address changes to relevant departments
  • Understand and process deductions/discounts from E-Billing sites; handle write-offs per policy
  • Update spreadsheets and documentation as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in cash applications within a service industry
  • Practical knowledge of data processing and Excel
  • Experience with Aderant and Expert Collection is a plus

Education

  • Associate's degree preferred
